The experienced professionals at the Heart & Vascular Center of BMH administer a full range of services using the latest technology. The list below includes some of the services offered at the Center. Please click on an individual service to learn more.

Echocardiography (EKG)

An ultrasound test that takes moving pictures of the heart chambers, valves and surrounding structures to measure cardiac output, detect abnormal anatomy or infections of the heart valves.

Stress Testing/Nuclear Cardiology

A diagnostic test in which a special camera is used to view the heart during exercise and while at rest to evaluate blood flow and the pumping function of the heart.

Vascular Ultrasound

A diagnostic test that uses ultrasound waves to produce images of veins and arteries to determine circulatory problems such as poor blood flow, blood clots or other irregularities.

Cardiac Catheterization

A long, narrow tube called a catheter is inserted into blood vessels to produce a "movie" of the heart, identifying heart muscle function and the presence of heart disease.

Open Heart Surgery

An operation that requires opening the chest cavity to modify the heart muscle. Open heart procedures include coronary artery bypass, heart valve procedures and heart transplants.

Valve Repair and Replacement

A treatment option for patients with valvular heart disease which typically involves open-heart surgery to either replace the diseased valve or repair it by inserting a support ring.

Endovascular AAA Repair

A less-invasive treatment for patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). Doctors place an endograft, or a strong, flexible tube, in the affected area to seal off the aneurysm.

Coronary CT Angiography

A non-invasive heart imaging test that looks for fatty or calcium deposits built up in the coronary arteries that could become problematic.

Peripheral Vascular Disease Screening

Various ultrasound tests that are used to detect problems that could lead to peripheral artery disease, carotid artery disease, renal artery disease and abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

A medically-supervised program designed to help heart patients quickly recover their physical, mental and social functions while slowing the progression of cardiovascular disease. Within the Heart & Vascular Center of BMH, patients have access to a specially-equipped cardiac rehabilitation gym.

Educational Activities

Classes and screening services that can educate patients on the risks, symptoms and treatments of heart disease. To learn more, visit our News & Events page.
